The iconic little black dress (LBD) made famous by Coco Chanel in the 1920s and Audrey Hepburn is a closet staple that fits into almost any and every occasion of life. The LBD is suitable for work, meetings, funerals, cocktail parties, date night, girl’s night out, graduation, gala dinners, award ceremonies, weddings, … you name it.
The perfect LBD should be versatile, (sometimes) affordable and your go-to dress when you’re not sure what to wear, want to play it safe and keep it modest.
The versatility of this dress is the ease of being able to accessorise and switch looks with just one dress. You can dress down with pumps/sneakers/sandals, a hat and scarf or dress it up with high heels and sparkly jewellery.
Don’t be limited by the word ‘little’ in LBD, your dress can be as long or short, minimal or grand as you like.
Take styling cues from two of my favourite Instagram style queens Micah Gianelli and Ama:

Don’t be caught off guard with nothing to wear, create a collection of black dresses in various styles: halter neck; wrap; pencil; fitted; mini; midi; flare; maxi; long, short or no sleeves; baby doll; shift; etc… .
